Charmayne James Barrel Racing Clinic

Here's What Charmayne had to say about her time at Quail Creek Ranch!

"Our Salinas, California clinic was held September 7th - 9th, at the Quail Creek Ranch Arena, owned by Jack and Danielle Barbiere. The facility was a perfect setup for a barrel racing clinic. Thanks to Jack, the ground was excellent. I told him I wished we could take him to all the rodeos to prepare the ground. Jack and Danielle bent over backwards to please everyone. They cooked every night and everyone greatly appreciated their hospitality. The event was reminiscent of the traditional California roundup."

"This was truly a family oriented group of people with everyone involved and supporting one another. We had a six year old and her mother taking part in the clinic. It was funny to think back to when I was six and starting out on barrels. We had so much fun. There were many really nice horses, and a couple of trainers participating in the clinic. Two previous students were at the clinic and it was great to hear they were doing really well. Seeing them again was like seeing old friends. MaryAnna Clemons was presented her award for winning the "Rediscovering Rockies" clothing promotion. She also won the free equine dental treatment from Randy Reidinger, our clinic equine dentist. I told her it was her lucky day and she needed to buy a lottery ticket."

"I greatly appreciate all the great attitudes and patience of the students, and their believing in my teaching. If I can make life a little easier for just one student and horse it is worthwhile. The students were all so willing to learn, and took the time to absorb everything."

"Everyone on our team thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and climate. This was definitely a place we would choose again for a clinic. This was our last clinic for this year as I was in my 5th month with the new baby and will not be riding until after it is born."

Richard Winters - Advancing Horsemanship Clinic

Advancing Horsemanship Clinic was a huge success. Richard arrived at Quail Creek Ranch, his old stomping grounds, where he had been employed nearly twenty five years ago as Ranch Manager. Richard commented on how the covered enclosed arena was just a vision at that time. Richard went on to say that the arena and the amenities that avail Quail Creek Ranch now are astounding. Saturday and Sunday, we had 17 participants and several auditors that showed up at the ranch. Richard’s clinic focused on his “four part harmony” isolating and improving the performance horses suppleness. By Sunday attendees were performing flying lead changes, rollbacks and collected stops. Richard also worked with Tess Barbieri and her Western Pleasure horse “Tye” on trailer issues that had long been a concern. Tess is thrilled to now go to a show and back her horse “Tye” out of the trailer without having to collapse the rear tack compartment. Many thanks to Richard for the invaluable learning experience, we hope to host many more Winter’s clinics at Quail Creek Ranch.
